Blast from the Past!

In an effort to eat healthier, I recently bought old fashioned popcorn. You know the kind that you have to pop in a pan! Both of my kids started to reminisce about their grandmother making "Real" popcorn for them when they were younger. They remembered how good it tasted hot and fresh with butter and salt.

Well, that got me thinking about my grandmothers and what they used to make. My paternal grandmother was an amazing cook. My favorite two things
she made were rhubarb pie and homemade
chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes.
She even made the noodles from scratch.

What favorite food memories do you have of your grandmother?

Mmmm.... Nana's popcorn! :)

Also, caramel brownies from Nana, and Grandma's Svieboks and Putlezja (I butchered both spellings unfortunately, but I'm tired so looking them up is not happening right now.)

I love those memories since my mom made a wonderful rhubarb pie and mouth watering noodles and chicken.

my grandma baked & baked & baked @ Christmas. She made the best lemon meringue pie with the highest meringue & she made chocolate covered mashed potato balls - I always thought they were coconut until I was much older!!!

Great post! My grandma (Nana) taught me the fine art of letter writing, and how you can make someone's day by sending them something that's not a bill in the mail :) I guess nowadays it's what we call "happy mail"!

My dad loved his popcorn every night. My mom popped it in a big heavy pot just like your mom. My Aunt Mary & Uncle Grover had a tradition every Sunday evening they had popcorn for supper, but they poured milk on it and ate it like cereal. Never quite learned to eat it that way.
