Vintage Thingies

This week I am showing a collection of Christmas pins.


And I have a question for all of you. I found these beautiful salt and pepper shakers. However, there is some type of corrosion (almost looks like salt) around one of the lids. It is bad enough that the lid does not come off. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the corrosion without ruining the lid? Thanks in advance.

    Your collection of Christmas pins is great!
    I'm not sure about your S&P's - I found sometimes getting the corrosion off also takes off the finish on the lids. It's a tough one! I hope someone will have a remedy for you.

    Johnny says if you can get any warm water into it that may help.. I saw your question and thought I'd ask him if he had any ideas. "If she can't get water the space easily maybe try soaking it and see if it'll get into it that way.

    Good question about the S&P shakers, unfortunately, I have not a clue, I have a pair too that needs help...love your Christmas pins...very nice. Happy VTT!

    Did you try some vegetable oil? I would soak them well with oil & leave them sit for a while. Worth a try won't hurt anything!
